Lungelo is a visual storyteller, journalist, and cultural curator based in Katlehong. His work spans documentary photography, event production through HIP Daily Media Works, and music curation. He needed a digital presence that carried the same raw, intentional energy as his street-level cultural work — not a clean corporate portfolio, but something that felt alive.
We designed and built a dark, image-heavy portfolio with parallax scroll effects, a filterable archives gallery, and bold typographic moments that let his photography and cultural projects lead. The site is structured around his three disciplines — visual documentation, cultural journalism, and media production — with a timeline and archives section that gives depth to a decade of work.
Culture as a design language
The site's visual identity draws directly from the energy of Lungelo's work — warm gold accents against deep black, oversized typography that commands attention, and a photo-first layout where the imagery always leads. Nothing about it reads as a generic creative portfolio.
An archive that tells a story
The archives section is filterable across documentary, street, events, and portrait work — giving visitors a way to explore a decade of cultural documentation. The masonry layout and category filters let the breadth of the work speak without needing to narrate it.
Motion with intention
Parallax scroll effects on the hero images and section transitions add depth without becoming a distraction. Every animation serves the storytelling — revealing content at the pace it deserves rather than dumping everything on screen at once.
